Let’s Plan: Another Birthday Back in South Beach

American Airlines New York (LGA) – Miami (MIA)
King & Grove Tides and Z Ocean Hotel
South Beach Diet
Delta Airlines Fort Lauderdale (FLL) – New York (LGA)

Around this time last year, this whole frequent travel hustle really started to ramp up for me. One of the first real trips utilizing some of the tips and tricks that I’d been learning (and points that I’d been earning) was a trip to South Beach for Joann’s birthday. It was just a simple redemption on Delta (if there is such a thing), but it was really the start of many great things to come. So why not go back to Miami for the weekend of Joann’s birthday? She does love her South Beach.

Since all my vacation days are either gone or booked (wedding/honeymoon + Bali), I could only be in Miami for two nights. The plan for this trip was, as usual, budget travel and budget lodging. We wanted to spend as little cash out of pocket as possible.

Results of my Latest Credit Card App-O-Rama

First of all, Happy New Year!

The results are in! Well, not entirely, but I do know what I’ve been approved for and what I did not get approved for. Keep in mind, unlike last year where Joann participated, this time around it was only me. I won’t go into detail about the perks of these cards as most of them are solely used for their sign-up bonuses.

Big Easy & ATL: Delta strikes again!

Trip Index

We arrived at Louis Armstrong Airport (MSY) about 90 minutes before our flight as usual. Security was a breeze. We scanned our mobile boarding passes and proceeded to the security line without the Nude-O-Scope as I get all the radiation I need in other ways let alone at the airport. MSY has only one Delta Sky Club so we posted up there until boarding time.

We walked to the nearby gate at 1:15 PM, 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure, and Zone 1 had just been called. The aircraft was an MD88 and we occupied 25DE, which was an exit row with only 2 seats in it. It was a very light load; the flight attendant said we would only have about 49 passengers.
