For the rate we paid at the Four Seasons Maui at Wailea, I was afraid we’d feel like we overpaid “just” for a hotel. Well I was wrong! The arrival experience and the room were both welcoming and amazing. The food was delicious! And we soon found out that the service and on-site amenities were just as excellent as well.
First and foremost, the focus of any great beach resort is their pool. Four Seasons Maui has three – the Waterfall Pool, the Fountain Pool, and the Serenity Pool. We spent a whole day at the adults-only Serenity Pool. I reserved us a Missoni Cabana; one of their newest ones created by Italian designer Rosita Missoni.
Missoni Cabanas
As we walked into the cabana area, we could tell right away which cabanas were the Missoni ones. The palette of colors just popped right off the canvas of surrounding earth tone cabanas. The attendant showed us to our cabana and explained all the amenities that we had access to – 2 bottles of Veuve Clicquot champagne, Nespresso, fresh fruit, ice cold towels, and a large flat screen TV with wireless headphones.
It was perfect. Joann could tan on her beach chair in the sun and I could mostly stay in the cabana – under the ceiling fan while watching some NBA. This was what relaxing on a honeymoon is all about.
Serenity Pool
We also spent some time in the world renowned Serenity Pool, which is a beautiful infinity pool overlooking the grounds, Wailea Beach, and also had the island of Lana’i off in the distance. There was also a swim-up bar, but we preferred to get our drinks from the super attentive staff roaming around. Just spending time on the edge of the pool, looking out as the sun set on the islands was a moment of pure bliss.
Fountain Pool
The Fountain Pool is probably what you’d see the most of if you Googled pictures of the Four Seasons Maui. Joann and I didn’t swim there, but we did take plenty of pictures since it was the best photo opportunity on the grounds. Like most beautiful places, pictures say more than words.
Hotel Staff & Services
Overall, the staff at the Four Seasons Maui was amazing. They rivaled the hotel staff at the St. Regis Princeville that we had just stayed at. Everyone we passed in the hallways always greeted us with a smile.
The valet attendants were especially great during our stay. They were super friendly and very helpful in sharing tips for stuff to do on the island. Every time they brought the car around, they offered us cold bottles of water. When we woke up early to leave for sunrise at the top of Haleakala Crater, they gave us thick blankets since it would be pretty cold up there.
Another great service I wasn’t expecting was the complimentary shoe cleaning. After a long day of hiking through mud and waterfalls, Joann and my [6+ year old] sneakers were just beat up. We put them in the Shoe Cleaning bag and left them outside our door before we went to sleep. When we woke up, they were as clean as they’d been since the day we bought them! Awesome service.
Overall
If you ever plan on visiting Maui, I would HIGHLY recommend the Four Seasons Maui at Wailea. It is a top rated resort for a reason; it excels in every category that you look for in a hotel. When we come back to Maui (and we will), we’ll definitely be staying at the Four Seasons again. This place definitely spoiled us for life.
