This is getting crazy in a great way. Just 1 day after reading about and enrolling in the “10k MR points per Authorized User“, I read a post on Mommy Points saying that you can earn 10,000 American Express Membership Rewards points for every 15 transactions on your Gold or Premier Rewards Gold charge card. I called 1-800-AXP-EARN (297-3276) and was immediately denied by a snippy agent (she sounded busy). I hung up and called right back and spoke to a wonderful agent from Arizona who said she could definitely enroll my Premier Rewards Gold card in this promotion. She even made some nice small talk while things were processing. Here are the details of Bonus ID 6664 according to Mommy Points:
- Make 15 transactions on your card in a calendar month and get 10,000 bonus points
- Runs July – November 2011 (some reports it may end in October)
- 50,000 point maximum
The agent I spoke to said that it was 10k points for 15 transactions in a billing cycle so I’m not sure what to think. Amex is notoriously inconsistent when it comes to these targeted offers that leak out. Supposedly, the promo is also retroactive so if you made 15 transactions in July 2011, you can get credited for that. I’ll report back when I call in about that. You always have to wait 6-8 weeks after fulfilling the goal to call in and have the points manually credited to you.
If you have a Gold or Premier Rewards Gold card, a potential 50,000 point payday is definitely worth a phone call to the MR department. It seems to me that Amex refuses to lose this battle of credit card bonuses. Either way, I hope Chase fights back because this healthy competition is great for our accounts!
