Chase Freedom 4th Quarter 2014 – 5x Points at Amazon & Department Stores

You can now activate your Chase Freedom credit cards to earn 5 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar spent in the following categories:

  • Amazon.com
  • Zappos.com
  • Select department stores
    • JCPenney
    • Kohl’s
    • Macy’s
    • Nordstrom
    • Sears

You can see the list of all participating department stores here.

The 4th quarter bonus will run from October 1 – December 31, 2014.

Ways to Leverage This Bonus

I plan on leveraging this the easiest way I know how – buying something from Kohl’s to flip/sell. KitchenAid mixers are always a big hit, but we’ll see what surfaces for the holiday season.

If all else fails, I’ll buy some Amazon.com gift cards since I know I’ll be shopping there throughout the year.

Follow me on Twitter to find out what I’ll be flipping for profit & points next!

The 3rd quarter of 2014 is upon us so that means new bonuses and maybe some shuffling of spend.

As I wrote previously, this quarter’s bonus categories are gas stations & Kohl’s.

You will receive 5 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar spent in the bonus categories, up to $1,500 in spend.

The 3rd quarter bonus runs from July 1 – September 30, 2014.

If you haven’t already activated your Chase Freedom for this quarter, activate it here.

Similar to Chase, Discover IT 3rd quarter bonus category is also live and it is ALSO gas stations.

Between the two options, I’d rather have Ultimate Rewards points than cash back so I’ll be leaving the IT in the drawer this quarter. Or, if you can buy gift cards at your local gas station, you can easily spend the $1,500 max for both cards.

Ways to Leverage This Bonus

Find a gas station that has a gift card rack. They are out there and you can easily knock out the $1,500 of spend with a few Visa gift cards.

A more creative way to leverage this quarter’s bonus is buying items from Kohl’s that you can sell either on eBay or Amazon.

I’ve had great success in the past with KitchenAid mixers. It’s not the easiest method, but it’s more interesting with chance at good profit.

Chase Freedom Second Quarter 2014 Bonus Categories Are Live!

The 2nd quarter of 2014 is upon us so that means a plethora of new bonuses and maybe some shuffling of spend.

As I wrote 2 weeks ago, the bonus categories are restaurants and Lowe’s home improvement stores.

You will receive 5 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar spent in the bonus categories, up to $1,500 in spend.

The 2nd quarter bonus runs from April 1 – June 30, 2014.

If you haven’t already activated your Chase Freedom for this quarter, activate it here.

Chase has definitely created exclusive agreements between certain retailers – Lowe’s for home improvement, Starbucks for coffee shops, etc. If you happen to like shopping at Home Depot or other home improvement stores, look into my post about this quarter’s Discover IT bonus categories.

This isn’t a very diverse set of bonus categories, but there are still a few ways you can game them in your favor.

Ways to Leverage This Bonus

No secrets here. The only way to really maximize this bonus with $1,500 of spend is with gift cards.

Buy gift cards at restaurants you’ll eat at in the coming months. Lowe’s also has an extensive gift card rack with all the usual suspects – Starbucks, Amazon, iTunes, Southwest, Shell, BP, Visa, American Express, and dozens more.
