The Renaissance Hotel Midtown Atlanta is 2 blocks from the MARTA station – very convenient. The Renaissance brand is supposed to be an upscale boutique-like brand that is owned by Marriott. Upon entering the lobby, we were impressed. Dark, elegant marble ran throughout the lobby along with dark wood and even a fish tank in the lounging area.
The cheerful woman at the front desk was very quick to have our room ready and sent us on our way to the 14th floor. The room was far enough from the elevator and the view was great too. I was a bit surprised because I often hear horror stories about travelers getting the worst room in the hotel if they are on a cheaper Priceline stay.
It was a basically what you would think of as a standard hotel room – King bed, workstation/desk, flat screen TV (with HD channels), and a bathroom. The bathroom had some beautiful granite and a well lit vanity – definitely fit the bill of a boutique hotel.
Not bad at all for $99 a night all in. It was a great location for a home base, right near the MARTA. After settling in, we headed downstairs to eat at the hotel restaurant, Briza, for some double dip charges…
