The Wyndham La Belle Maison is a newly opened property in the New Orleans Warehouse District, right outside the French Quarter. Using my parents’ timeshare (shudder), we were able to book a 1 Bedroom Presidential Suite for 3 nights for less than 10% of their yearly points allowance… definitely great value for this prime location.
The suite was the best suite I’ve stayed in at Wyndham Vacation Resorts (WVR). It easily beats the suites in Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Atlantic City. The building itself was formerly the Franklin Printing Company and Wyndham purchased and renovated it in 2008. With high ceilings and a great feel of history throughout the property, La Belle Maison has the attitude of New Orleans while other properties around the country are merely “hotels”.
Upon entering, a short hallway leads you passed the bathroom to an open area kitchen. There was even space for a dining room table and of course a large living room with sofa and lounge chair. The bedroom was fit with a King bed and double doors that opened up to really make the 744 square feet feel huge. Also, WiFi was free (as it always is at WVR), which is always welcome in these times of many hotel brands nickel and diming customers. Enough words, here are the pics:
The best part about this hotel is the location – 2 blocks from Canal Street (where the French Quarter starts). Granted, the whole week was pretty dead thanks to Tropical Storm Lee, but being away from the potential craziness of Bourbon Street is a plus. It’s always there when you want it, but if you stayed at a hotel in the FQ, you might not be able to escape the hustle and bustle should you feel the need to.
